Vintage Design
Very rare dining table Model C18 designed by Børge Mogensen for FDB Mobler 1947. This table was designed in 1947 and produced in the mid -1960s. The table is made of light -colored oak, has a sturdy base and a generous table top. The sloring legs are sunk and ensure that the user can enjoy a generous amount of legroom. It is in very neat original condition with traces of use in the form of a somewhat darker discoloration due to age and use. Every day the man of the house was at this place, which can explain the traces. The table is marked twice on the bottom on the legs. The first owners bought this table in a business specialized in modern living in the 60s, it was then an exclusive and costly purchase. The state is very neat, the table has been in use for decades, which gives the whole a suitable patina. The construction is very solid. As a pioneer in the field of rationalistic design, Børge Mogensen was known as “the designer of the people” – partly because of his engaging personality, but also because he always designed quality furniture that was within the reach of people. He was a follower of Kaare Klint, for whom he worked after graduating at the Danish Art Academy. Later in 1950 he started his own studio and created a fantastic range of simple lines and affordable, yet elegant and refined furniture.
