Vintage Design
This exquisite set of nesting tables, designed by the renowned Josef Hoffmann and produced by Jacob & Josef Kohn in Vienna around 1905/06, is a testament to the Art Nouveau movement. Crafted from beech wood and featuring inlaid hammered brass tops, these tables are particularly rare with brass tops on all pieces. The smallest table bears a paper label marked “JACOB & JOSEF KOHN,” affirming its authenticity. In excellent condition, these tables show minimal signs of wear. Referenced in several significant works, including the J. & J. Kohn factory catalogues of 1906 and 1916, G. Renzi’s “Il mobile moderno, Gebrüder Thonet Wien, Jacob & Josef Kohn” (Milan 2008), “Gebogenes Holz. Konstruktive Entwürfe Wien 1840–1910” (Vienna 1979), and D. Baroni and A. d’Auria’s “Josef Hoffmann e la Wiener Werkstätte” (Milan 1981), these tables stand as a noteworthy example of Jugendstil design. with dimensions of 75 cm in height, 62 cm in width, and 45 cm in depth, they represent a rare and valuable find for collectors and connoisseurs of early 20th-century furniture.
