Italian Hollywood Regency Style Bedroom Lounge Chair, 1950s

Pretty and vexatious Italian bedroom chair; the shape is particularly pleasing, the front legs are “cabriole,” while the very slender back legs are cylindrical tapered, and turned; all legs are black lacquered wood. The upholstery, in smooth purple velvet, was made at a later date, a fine trimmings decoration was placed from the armrests along the entire back, and even under the seat and around the top of the legs, a decorative detail that adds a touch of elegance and personality to the armchair.

This chair was produced in the “Hollywood” style between 1950 and 1955 in Brianza, a region located north of Milan, Italy, which was and still is famous for the production of high-quality furniture, including armchairs; numerous companies and artisans operated in the area and contributed to the production of luxury armchairs.
